FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
HOW WILL I BE CONNECTED TO THE OTHER PARTICIPANTS AND MENTORS?
The selected trainees will have the opportunity to come to Northeastern University and work alongside the Lopez group if they are local to Boston. If the trainees are further away or unable to come in person, they may conduct research remotely from a location of their choosing.
HOW CAN I ENSURE THAT I HAVE ENOUGH COMPUTING POWER FOR A SUMMER RESEARCH EXPERIENCE?
All trainees will be provided with a laptop that they may use during the 6-week research experience. Mentors will consult with the trainees to evaluate internet speeds and accommodations will be made to ensure adequate speeds.
WHAT ARE THE TIME EXPECTATIONS FOR THIS PROGRAM?
Trainees should expect to dedicate at least 20 hours per week to working with our program. This will ensure that enough is learned to be applied to real-life research problems. Students are expected to present a poster or oral presentation at the end of the Summer.
WILL I RECEIVE A STIPEND FOR MY PARTICIPATION?
Yes! Selected students will receive $1,000 for their participation in the program. All travel costs will be
covered by NSF funding.
